Coldest Ride of the Year

Temps, old friends and stomach bugs turned a big crowd into a Dough inner circle ride today. Kaiser Ullrich was felled by some vomit-inducing virus, MC was felled by a high school drinking buddy (MC, you need to find some better friends!) and Dan K and Tyler likely noted the sub 30 degrees, and (I surmise) rolled over to spoon his respective bride. Leaving us with Panozzo, me, Wulf and VJ. We were joined by two felons (see below) that decided to work a pre-bank robbery spin into their day.

We rolled the Mod Oz at a steady state tempo. Coach's coach had him do 4x5 intervals, so I pushed it a little in those timeframes, but was just trying to spin at 95rpm otherwise. Cold start, but we warmed up quickly. Got some unfriendly advice from a jackass on 620, who felt like we should have blown off the ride. He looked a little like the Yeti....

Cruised Spicewood, but had to stop a  creek crossing, where a Hyundai SUV had flipped and emergency crews were on the scene. Looked like everyone was ok, but not every day you see a car in the creek....

Got some video, but still trying to figure out how to use that thing, so this ride will roll into a more comprehensive video compilation. Glad to be back in the saddle!!

Love the obscure "Raising Arizona" reference. "Hi, you go back in there and get me one of those babies! They got more than they can handle". Holly Hunter is such a hottie. Dynamite in a small package.

Love that pic! Classic. Vintage Yeti starting 2011 off with a bang...3 days of too much fun with my high school buddy, reaching it's zenith with trip down 6th Street til 3am. Honestly thought we were gonna take 'er ez after NY, but kept it going almost up until his 6am flight....

I had every intention of making the ride...even left my house by 7:15 on 2 wheels to ensure I had plenty of time. Got to try out my new winter-wear but the shakeout roll to the ride start indicated that my new gloves were not up to the task. After realizing my digits were not going to warm up (18 minutes into the 40-ish minute "commute") I turned around and headed for home. After thawing out, I ended up getting in an easy run with the wife and kiddo instead. LG Windtex gloves: not rated for <40F. PI softshell booties: Happy toes down to 29F.

RULE 50:
Facial hair is to be carefully regulated.  No full beards, no moustaches. Goatees are permitted only if your name starts with “Marco” and ends with “Pantani”, or if your head is intentionally or unintentionally bald.  One may never shave on the morning of an important race, as it saps your virility, and you need that to kick ass.

Ullrich wins the Coen Bros Award for quote recognition, Hoodie wins the RuleMinder Award for pointing out that Panozzo's Catfish Hunter look is NOT approved, And Bergamo and MC need to HTFU!!
